Course Design Fees

Land Characteristics - Number of Holes - Course Type - Scale of Project

A course design on an existing golf course or well maintained community park will generally take much less time than a course that is being planned in an area that is densely forested, over rough terrain, or has environmental considerations.

A nine hole introductory level course will require less time to produce a quality design than a course where future top level competitive events are envisioned. The amount of land used, number of teepads and target locations, built hazards and features are all considerations that impact the overall scale, and therefore design cost of the project.

Course Infrastructure Costs

Disc Golf targets

A major component of a disc golf course is the basket or ‘target.’ Based on quality they can range from $300 to $650 CAD each and is most often the largest capital expense. The basket pictured above represents a top-of-the-line basket which has a locking sleeve for removable or allowing for changing of positions. “Tonal” targets cost much less, can be self-fabricated, and while not acceptable for sanctioned play they just might be a good first step.

Teepads

The action starts here. From low cost natural ground to durable concrete surfaces there is a fit for every budget. This is perhaps the area where there is the widest range of possibility and style. Often times platforms with artificial turf are used to ‘green’ up spaces instead of pouring concrete. Some courses have even elected to use paving stones contained by a frame as an aesthetic option.

Signage

Signs give information to assist a player in determining how best to approach the hole. Signs can be as cost effective as a hand-painted rock or as complex as one might imagine. Aside from the hole signs, a main course sign is a valuable tool to show course routing, sport etiquette, rules and upcoming events. It also provides a space to recognize sponsors and volunteers. Signs within multi-use parks can include information for others who may not be familiar with the sport.
